The Word Bay

Wordbay now works independently of WordPress

October 17th, 2012

Just a quick announcement – I have had people ask me about this for a long while. I finally got round to making some changes to Wordbay so that it can (optionally) work outside the WordPress framework. So you can basically include a Wordbay listing wherever you want, in any PHP-based website. I have a little demo of that here. Download the latest version of Wordbay and you will find brief instructions in the “developers readme.txt” file, along with a short demo file.

You DO need a little PHP programming experience, there is no plugin interface for any of the other CMSs out there, so you can’t install it in Joomla or anything, you have to get down and dirty with the code. But all you need to get the basics working is set a few parameters like file paths. Then you can tinker with the more complex stuff like the actual listing parameters. It’s all pretty self-explanatory.

Bear in mind that this is serious beta stuff, let me know if you have had a play with it and of any problems you may encounter. But please bear in mind I cannot support this currently, i.e. I can’t help you set this up if you are not a programmer, you are on your own!
